Commentary -
A balmy figure wearing a hat made of fur looks frantically over her shoulder, as she runs from a menacing mass of encroaching darkness. To her left a pale shadowed lake lurks below a crimson smeared sky holding an egg yolk sun.

Surely in all personal histories there lies an instant, a moment or a fleeting second of something bright, carefree or sublime. Surely even in the dark, fireflies lurk: blinking rays of hope and perseverance, floating in the shadows.

About my 'Hellescapes':
I remember when I first coined the term ''Hellescape''. It made sense. It fit. The dark period that I was experiencing did indeed feel like a personal hell. These paintings capture a silent anguish.
